SPINA – AI for spinal assessment (PR FESR Lazio 2021-2027)

Coesione Italia 21-27 Lazio, Co-financed by the European Union, Repubblica Italiana, Regione Lazio

SPINA – New artificial intelligence algorithms for the predictive diagnosis of spinal pathologies

The SPINA project (Software Platform for Intelligent spiNal Assessment), promoted by Sensor Medica S.r.l. in collaboration with the Università degli Studi della Tuscia and the Università degli Studi Niccolò Cusano, aims to develop innovative technologies based on artificial intelligence for the analysis and assessment of the spine.

Through the evolution of the SPINE 3D system, the project aims to develop algorithms able to estimate the position and morphology of the spine more accurately from non-invasive three-dimensional scans of the back, without using ionizing radiation.

The expected result is an advanced clinical decision-support system that improves the identification and monitoring of spinal alterations and contributes to reducing the use of radiological examinations, when clinically appropriate.
